How this site makes money

This site earns money from affiliate links. When you click a booking button here and go on to book, the company you book with pays us a commission. You pay the same price you would have paid going to them directly — the commission comes out of their margin, not out of your fare.

That is the whole arrangement. The rest of this page is what it does and does not change, because a disclosure that only says “we may earn a commission” tells you nothing useful.

What you pay

Nothing extra. Affiliate links do not raise the price, and they do not lock you into a worse rate than the one on the company’s own site. If you would rather not use them, type the company’s address into your browser and book there; the price will be the same.

Where the buttons are, and where they are not

Booking buttons appear on the pages where you are choosing something to book: transfers to a specific place, the airport taxi page, car and scooter rental, hotels, and luggage storage.

Most of the reference material carries none. The arrivals and departures boards have no booking buttons at all, and that is deliberate rather than an oversight — a live flight board with a sales widget on it is a worse flight board, and this one exists to be checked rather than to sell.

Where a page does carry buttons, they are placed after the answer, not before it.

What the commission does not decide

It does not decide the prices. Every price on this site comes from one data file that lists what each option actually costs, and the pages read from it. A route where the bus is cheapest says the bus is cheapest, and the bus pays us nothing.

It does not decide the advice. The recommendation on every route page is written before the booking block goes on it, and several pages here tell you not to buy anything — that the walk is short enough, that the hotel shuttle is free, that renting a car for a week you will spend on one beach is money wasted.

It does not decide who appears. We do not name booking companies in the text of the pages, and the set of buttons is generated rather than hand-picked per page. That is partly an editorial rule and partly a practical one: the companies change more often than the text does.

It does not buy coverage. Nobody has paid to be written about here, and sponsored placement is not something this site sells.

Every affiliate link on the site is marked in its code as a paid link — rel="sponsored nofollow" — which is the machine-readable half of this page.

What it does change, honestly

Money follows attention, and attention follows what people search for. The pages about getting from the airport to a beach are the ones that earn, and they are also the ones that get written first and updated most. A page about luggage storage gets less of both.

That is a real bias in how effort is allocated, and it is worth knowing about. It is not a bias in what any individual page says.

Advertising

The site carries no display advertising at present. If that changes, this page changes with it — and advertising, unlike affiliate links, would be visible as advertising rather than as a recommendation.

The prices themselves

Fares and distances shown here are collected from operators and published sources, and the ones that have not been checked on the ground are marked as such rather than presented as verified. They are a guide to what things cost, not a quotation. What you are charged at a counter or in an app on the day is set by that company, not by us.
